Use & Care

Describes the most commonly asked questions about using our products.

  1.

    Are your cookwares dishwasher safe?

  2.

Can I use a scouring pad to clean my clay cookware?

  3. Can I cut directly in my cookware?

  1.

    Are your cookwares dishwasher safe?

Yes they are. However, we recommend pre-washing them by hand if they are very dirty. You can also soak them overnight in warm soap water  before washing with the dishwasher but we recommend washing them by hand like we would for any nice kitchenware. The dishwasher soaps contains hard chemicals that may stick to the clay as it is a porous material. Overall we recommend using natural dishwashing soaps and they are better for your hands and the environment anyway.

  2.

Can I use a scouring pad to clean my clay cookware?

It is not recommended but when they are very dirty we use a gentle green pad without applying much pressure to remove the dirtiest areas. When very dirty, we recommend you soak the pot overnight in dishwasher soap and warm water (preferably natural type as they contain less chemicals). NEVER use any abrasive material, cleaning product or sharp object other than your nails to clean your cookware or you may damage it permanently. Let the dish completely dry for several hours before putting it away.

  3. Can I cut directly in my cookware?

No, please NEVER use any sharp object to handle the food in your clay cookware. This could damage the enamel and deteriorate.
